Manufactured by Lockheed. First flight took place in 1964. Longer versions L-100-20 and L-100-30 were developed. Production of the L-100 ended in 1992 with 114 deliveries.

An updated version of the model, the LM-100J, completed its first flight on 25 May 2017 in Marietta, Georgia and was scheduled to enter production in 2018-19.

In 1959 Pan American Airlines ordered 12 Lockheed GL-207 Super Hercules and by 1962 carried four 6,000 hp Allison T56 turboprops.

Slick Airways would take delivery of six such aircraft in late 1962. A 6,445 ehp Rolls-Royce Tyne variant and a Pratt & Whitney JT3D-11 four-turbofan jet engine variant were also under development. Both Pan American Airlines and Slick Airways (which ordered six) canceled orders, and the other variants did not advance the earlier design studies.

The L-100 prototype (registration N1130E) made its first flight on April 20, 1964 and flew for 1 hour and 25 minutes. Type certification was granted on 16 February 1965. 21 production aircraft were built, with the first delivery to Continental Air Services on 30 September 1965.

Poor sales led to the development of two new longer versions, the L-100-20 and L-100-30. Both were larger and more economical than the original model.

114 aircraft were delivered ending production in 1992. From 1968 to 1973, several L-100-20 aircraft were operated by Delta Air Lines on scheduled cargo flights.

A civilian update of the Lockheed Martin C-130J-30 Super Hercules was under development, but the program was placed on indefinite hold in 2000 to focus on military development and production.

On February 3, 2014, Lockheed Martin officially restarted the LM-100J program, saying it expects to sell 75 aircraft. Lockheed sees the new LM-100J as an ideal replacement for its existing civilian L-100 fleet.

Pallas Aviation will be the launch operator for the LM-100J and from 2019 will operate two aircraft from Fort Worth Alliance Airport in the United States.

By early March 2022, three Pallas-owned LM-100J aircraft (tail numbers N96MG, N71KM and N67AU) will fly between Ramstein AB and a secondary military aviation facility in Naue Miast Nad Pilikan, Poland. started multiple flights with Bobock, Romania. Suriat, Slovakia. Rielwalde in Latvia and Aalborg in Denmark.

An extension variant certified in 1968 with a new 5 ft (1.5 m) section forward of the wing and a new 3 ft 4 in (1.02 m) section aft of the wing.

Twin engine version of the C-130. At least one publication advertised it as having "more than 90% parts commonality" with the standard C-130. The aircraft went out of production in the mid-1980s.

Interesting. In my unprofessional opinion, jets aren't that bad. If the water level was 3-4 feet higher, I might worry, but wouldn't a little repair get this bird back in the air? but it was still repaired.

Don't worry, they should have dried and fixed it. And it appears that only the landing gear is flooded, not the cabin.

This aircraft is currently being repaired by the RTAF. From what the techs have told me, they can separate it during flooding. There were no leaks on board. All they have to do is dry it and clean the landing gear.
